Muted or brash, the bold sounds of horns claim center stage on recordings and in performances by the likes of Buena Vista Social Club and Preservation Hall Jazz Band. From New Orleans to New York City to Paris, brass creates a language whose expression, drawn from breath, speaks to the human spirit.
Solo Horns to Full Brass Bands
The tenth title in Roland’s SRX series described itself as “a superb collection of sounds that capture the true articulations of traditional brass instruments and ensembles.” The diverse patches in SRX BRASS are broad enough for crafting pop hits, scoring films, classical composition, and beyond.
100 Diverse Presets: Trumpets, Tubas, Trombones, Horn Sections
Dynamic Articulation
These sounds give composers freedom to arrange horn parts with a new dynamism: one that includes realistic falls and swells. Turn an ensemble of horns into a ghostly wail or a trumpet into a distorted buzz saw. The sonic possibilities are boundless.

Hardware Integration
Hardware synthesizers like the SYSTEM-8 can map to these controls, facilitating an easy, tactile workflow. Picture Coltrane playing to the universe or Miles blowing into the unknown. SRX BRASS provides the tools you need to achieve your perfect sound.

* Although Roland has tested numerous configurations, and has determined that on average, a computer system similar to that described above will permit normal operation of the SRX BRASS Software Synthesizer, Roland cannot guarantee that a given computer can be used satisfactorily with the SRX BRASS Software Synthesizer based solely on the fact that it meets the above requirements. This is because there are too many other variables that may influence the processing environment, including differences in motherboard design and the particular combination of other devices involved.
In the early 2000s, Roland’s SRX expansion boards offered users genre-centric micro-suites of sounds to infuse specific instrumentation into their synthesizers. These high-fidelity samples expanded players’ pallets for music-making, plain and simple. The collections have also inspired devotees who consider the SRX boards essential to their production tool kit.
SRX hardware boards are nearly impossible to find and are exclusively available from Roland Cloud. Our collection of VSTs pay homage to the original SRX boards and are ready to be utilized in a variety of workflows.
